1959 Event

Won the 24 Hours of Le Mans co-driving an Aston Martin DBR1 with Roy Salvadori. A heart condition was already limiting his driving career.

1962 Event

Founded Shelby American and shoehorned a Ford V8 engine into a lightweight AC Ace chassis. The result was the Cobra, a car that could embarrass Ferraris at a fraction of the price.

1966 Event

His Ford GT40 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, beating Ferrari. Henry Ford II had commissioned the project after Enzo Ferrari backed out of selling his company to Ford.
