Biography

Toni Michele Braxton is an American singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. Braxton has won seven Grammy Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, seven American Music Awards, and numerous other accolades. In 2011, Braxton was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. In 2017, she was honored with the Legend Award at the Soul Train Music Awards.

Released her self-titled debut album. "Breathe Again" and "Another Sad Love Song" made her a star. The album sold eight million copies worldwide. Her deep contralto voice stood apart from every other pop vocalist.

1996 Event

"Un-Break My Heart" became one of the best-selling singles of all time. It spent 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Six Grammys total across her career.

1998 Life

Filed for bankruptcy despite album sales of over 60 million records. Her contract with LaFace Records paid her less than 35 cents per album sold. Filed again in 2010. Became a public face for the financial exploitation of recording artists.
